About Bedtime Math
Bedtime Math is a small set of calculators and guides for adults planning their sleep: when to go to bed, how long to nap and how much sleep the official tables recommend at each age.
How we work
Every calculator runs on a small open library of pure functions. Each function has automated tests with cases checked by hand before anything goes live. The guides use the same library for every worked example, so the numbers in an article and in the tools always match.
Facts come from official and professional sources: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the National Sleep Foundation. Each guide lists its sources.
We use AI tools to help draft and review text. Every rule, number and example is checked against the source before publication, and Bedtime Math Editorial is responsible for the content.
What we are not
We are not doctors and this is not a medical service. The tools do arithmetic with published averages. They do not diagnose, treat or measure anything. If you have trouble sleeping or feel unusually tired during the day, talk to a doctor.
